In the middle of august, Games Director Göran Hägerdal announced that he had been offered – and accepted – the job as a headmaster of the adult educational association NBV, Nykterhetsrörelsen Bildningsverksamhet.

Gerda Nilsson Tjernström is taking over Göran Hägerdals role as Games Director for the World Winter Games. Gerda Nilsson Tjernström has worked as Head of Health for the World Winter Games since early summer.
– I am very happy and humbled to lead this very competent group of people that are currently working fully with the preparation for the games. It’s a big and very exciting challenge, she says.

About the World Winter Games she says:
– Special Olympics World Winter Games is fantastic in so many ways. For many athletes it gives life-changing experiences – confidence in their own abilities, independence as well as changed attitudes. My heart is beating for public health and it feels great to work to deliver an unforgettable experience for athletes, leaders, volunteers and spectators. We also see the games as an opportunity to focus on the health of an exposed target group and to achieve a real and long-term change in the bigger perspective.
