Floorball is a versatile indoor team sport developed in Sweden in the 1970s. The sport is played with plastic sticks and a light ball and the main objective is to score more goals than the opposite team.

Floorball was a demonstration sport at the 2013 Special Olympics World Winter Games in Korea. It was also part of the World Winter Games in Austria in 2017.

The sport requires good stamina as well as explosiveness and a high capacity of quickness. The athletes also need to have good control of the ball as well as good stick technique.

At Special Olympics Sweden Invitational Games 2020, there will be competitions in the following events:

• Team Competition – Female
• Team Competition – Male/Mixed
• Unified Sports Team Competition – Male/Mixed

For Special Olympics the game is slightly modified and matches are played on a smaller court, 3 versus 3 with goalkeepers.
